Construction Projects
Perry Township Schools is proposing a critical maintenance project for Perry Meridian High School (PMHS) and Southport High School (SHS). These upgrades are necessary to ensure the safety, comfort and continued success of our students and staff.
The infrastructure of both schools has become increasingly outdated and presents significant safety concerns. Issues like deteriorating masonry, outdated fire alarm systems and aging roofs have made it clear that urgent action is required. Additionally, the rapid growth of our student population has strained the availability of classrooms. Currently, many teachers are forced to share classrooms with other educators, which impacts the overall learning environment.
This proposal is not about creating state-of-the-art facilities but about making essential improvements that will provide students and staff with an adequate environment where learning can thrive. The project proposals are focused on addressing these urgent safety and space needs so we can continue to foster an educational setting that is both safe and conducive to student success.

Innovation Program Groundbreaking at Uindy
On August 27, Perry Township Schools and the University of Indianapolis officially broke ground on the future home of Perry Township’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program.
The new facility will be constructed on the University of Indianapolis campus, where the program is currently operating in temporary space. Designed specifically for hands-on, career-connected learning, the center will include classrooms, collaborative spaces, makerspaces, presentation areas and four specialized learning studios.
The facility will give Perry Township students dedicated space to create, build, test ideas, collaborate with industry professionals and develop skills connected to future careers.
The groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction on the program’s permanent home and another major investment in expanding innovative learning opportunities for Perry Township students.

HOLDER FIELD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Perry Township Schools is moving forward with improvements to Holder Field, a vital athletic facility for our students and community.
This project focuses on enhancing the safety, functionality, and long-term sustainability of Holder Field through upgrades like synthetic turf, wrap around bleachers, upgraded dugouts, and other essential infrastructure.
We will be documenting the progress of the Holder Field project with drone footage and regular updates, so our community can follow along as the improvements take shape.
