From Classroom to Career
Perry Township Career Connected Learning Initiative
Perry Township Schools is committed to preparing students for success beyond the classroom, and recent Southport High School graduate Josh Elliott is a prime example of that mission in action.
Josh, a member of the class of 2025, spent the summer interning with the Skillman Corporation, contributing to upgrades and construction at Holder Field, the baseball and softball facilities located on Perry Township Schools property.
The internship is part of the district’s Career Connected Learning initiative, which helps students gain practical skills, explore career paths and build valuable connections with industry professionals.
This fall, Josh will attend Purdue University to continue working toward his career goals.
Perry Township Schools is expanding Career Connected Learning opportunities through a $7.8 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. The funding will provide more students across the district with hands-on experiences that help them explore potential careers and take steps toward making their dreams a reality.
Through initiatives like this, Perry Township Schools continues to equip students with the skills, experiences and opportunities they need to succeed in college, careers and life.
